HOSA Canada Terms and Conditions

  1. Definitions 
    1. The term “Electronic Property” includes: 
      1. Access to the student resource portal at https://hosa-member.ca/  
      2. All electronic documents available to be viewed on https://hosa-member.ca/  
      3. Test questions & answers from competitive events offered by HOSA Canada and HOSA, Inc. 
    2. “HOSA Student” refers to students that have paid the Registration Fee as defined herein 
    3. “Annual Term” refers to the school year from September 1st to August 31st of the following calendar yea
  2. Registration Fee 
    1. During the Annual Term, a HOSA Student receives:
      1. Access to Electronic Property of HOSA Canada 
      2. Eligibility register for conferences, workshops, and other events offered by HOSA Canada and HOSA, Inc. 
      3. Eligibility to apply for scholarships and other workplace opportunities offered by HOSA Canada and HOSA, Inc. 
    2. The Registration Fee is non-transferable, and non-exchangeable, and non-refundable past the deadline as specified on https://hosacanada.org/ for each Annual Term 
    3. HOSA Canada is not responsible for: 
      1. The costs of travel, food, and lodging incurred by HOSA Student in order to attend or while participating in events organized by HOSA Canada or HOSA, Inc. 
      2. The cost of materials that may be required for certain competitive events 
    4. The HOSA Student is considered to be a registered member of HOSA upon receipt of the payment of the Registration Fee until the end of the Annual Term 
    5. HOSA Canada reserves the right to revoke membership without a refund: 
      1. At the request of HOSA, Inc.
      2. At the request of teacher, principal or board administrator affiliated with the school under which the HOSA Student is registered 
      3. At its own discretion in response to academically dishonest, illegal or otherwise inappropriate behavior including but not limited to harassment,  
    6. Upon revocation of membership for any of the reasons above, all benefits granted to the HOSA student as set forth in subsection (a) are also revoked 
  3. Privacy 
    1. Personal and contact information as well as individual test scores collected from the HOSA Student will not be shared with any third-party organizations 
      1. This excludes sharing of information collected for the purpose of membership registration with HOSA, Inc. 
      2. Anonymized scores and aggregate data and results from competitions organized by HOSA Canada may be used for internal analysis and/or shared with a third party 
    2. Any intellectual property created by the HOSA student that is created in connection to events organized by HOSA Canada, including projects, presentations, or other creative works may be used by HOSA Canada for promotional purposes, provided that the HOSA student grants permission 
      1. HOSA Students forfeit the right to demand compensation for the use of such works if no such compensation was agreed upon in writing at the time permission is granted 
  4. Electronic Property 
    1. The HOSA Student shall not recreate, copy, share, sell, or publish any of HOSA Canada’s Electronic Property 
    2. HOSA Canada’s Electronic Property may only be used for personal, educational use 
    3. HOSA Canada does not make any representations or warranties, actual or implied, as to the accuracy of the Electronic Property (including the material contained in the student portal) or its fitness for a particular purpose 
  5. Representation 
    1. The HOSA Student shall follow the branding guidelines, when using the HOSA logo, as outlined in the following link: http://hosa.org/sites/default/files/HOSA-Brand-Style-Guide.pdf 
    2. The HOSA Student will not place the HOSA logo on items to sell to parties that are not affiliated with HOSA Canada without written permission from HOSA Canada 
  6. Force Majeure 
    HOSA Canada shall not be liable for any failure to perform its obligations where such failure is as a result of acts of nature, government restrictions, wars, pandemics, or any other cause beyond its reasonable control.
  7. Amendment 
    HOSA Canada reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time whereupon HOSA Students will be notified of any changes via email or through the member portal at https://hosa-member.ca/ within thirty (30) days. If written notice is not provided within thirty (30) days of intention to withdraw membership due to any changes to the previous terms and conditions, continued membership will constitute acceptance of the revised terms.
